2008 Syrah, Santa Barbara Thompson (48%) and White Hawk (49%) vineyards Syrah yields intense, flavorful fruit, co-fermented with Catie’s Corner Viognier (3%) in the classic northern Rhone style resulting in a mouth-watering wine best appreciated with food. This wine has an opaque ruby/violet color, plentiful soft tannins, and layered aromas / flavors of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, huckleberry, white pepper and smoky notes ending with a black fruit compote finish. Leon recommends serving this wine with smoked turkey, spicy curries, pork loin, braised meats, or peppered flank steak. It is ready to drink now but will improve with age over the next 5 to 7 years.
