2007 Syrah, Dry Creek Valley This wine is a blend of Ray Teldeschi's vineyard syrah, Dry Creek Valley (89%), Eaglepoint Ranch Vineyard Grenache (6%), Catie's Corner Vineyard, Russian River Valley (3%) and Eaglepoint Ranch Vineyard Petite Sirah (2%). The wine is an opaque ruby with slight purple core transitioning to a purple rim. The medium intensity nose has aromas of floral (white), black cherry, black olive, red cherry, strawberry, cracked black pepper and warm spices. The palate has medium+ acidity, medium+ fine-grained tannins, long length with complex, layered flavors matching the aroma plus warm spices on entry, cracked white pepper and pomegranite and on the finish. It is a very pleasant mouth-watering mouthfeel just begging to be had with a rich meat-based dish. Analysis: Bronze medal - 2010 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition 87 points -- "A ripe, lush wine, the 2007 Lionheart Wines Syrah Dry Creek Valley has lot of plum, briar, earth and chocolate aromas on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with a soft, upfront feel, lots of sweet fruit and an enjoyable finish. This should be a crowd pleaser to drink over the next 3 to 5 years.", The Rhone Report, Nov. 2009 Price: $35 - retail; $29.75 - wine club Recommended Recipe: |
